Apples on the web: cider party on Twitter

Cider is a profoundly social drink that has made a home on the lightest of the social media, Twitter.

You don't need a Twitter account to check out the party.

For a sense of how much life pulses through the cider scene, sip from the following streams of cider tweeters and tasters.

Tweeters include many cider houses promoting their goods and events.

Tasters are limited to cider bloggers and others tweeting about cider generally. This smaller list, a subset of the first, is a bit more focused.

These are Twitter lists that I curate. Both still works in progress.

If you have a Twitter account (and know how) you can subscribe to these lists from my twitter page, @adapples. Otherwise just click on the links above to sample the cidery streams.

Across the pond, @ciderbods hosts virtual tastings on Twitter every Thursday at 8 pm Greenwich.

The hashtag #ciderbods invites tweets about the cider of the week. Get yourself the cider of the week (posted in advance at the Ciderbods web page) and share your impressions.

If you live in the United Kingdom, Ciderbods will also sell you a subscription to the stuff in its tasting queue, 12 bottles for 12 weeks.

Apples are seasonal but cider keeps well. No wonder that tweets about cider outnumber those about fruit this time of year.
